JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Intern, you will act under the instruction of and be trained by the company's experienced leadership team, with combined experience of over 40 years in the M&A markets.

Your specific duties throughout the year will include:

  •   Possess a working knowledge of the project, the client’s business and requirements of ourclient as the vendor

  •   Desk research: Provide detailed and quality research from a wide range of sources on behalfof the company’s clients within specified time frames, and from this research, identify companies that have the potential to make a formal offer for our clients’ businesses.

  •   Attend and contribute to think tank sessions and work with the transaction team to prepare a targeted acquirers list, and present necessary documentation to the client

  •   Calling: Understand and confidently communicate the benefits of an acquisition opportunity to Executives and Decision Makers of all researched companies, by adopting a consultative approach with the aim of getting a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement or relevant market feedback on behalf of our client and internal team, after presenting brief details of the opportunity to potential acquirers by phone and written correspondence

  •   Generate call statistics for presentation and discussion with the client and Transaction Leader periodically

  •   Assist the Transaction Leader to prepare for all meetings, including required administration thereof, and undertake all associated client/prospect follow-up tasks after meetings

  •   Communicate effectively between clients, prospects and Transaction Leaders, relaying all relevant communication to those concerned, updating in detail the Benchmark database following any interactions with either party throughout the transaction process

  •   Research recent industry transactions and their key aspects, such as structure, pricing, timing, and be aware of recent market activities

 

  •   Set up and populate the Virtual Data Room with required documentation and assist with the facilitation of the Due Diligence process

  •   Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals

  •   Comply with all policies, practices and procedures and report all unsafe activities to

    supervisor

  •   Perform other duties as assigned

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    As an Intern, you must be highly energetic and passionate individual with a positive and highlymotivated ‘can do’ attitude. You must have the strong desire and ambition to succeed in this hugelyrewarding industry. It is also vital for your role that you possess excellent verbal and written communication, analytic, mathematical, and interpersonal skills as well as presentation abilities.

    Specifically:

  •   A willingness to get involved in all aspects of a transaction and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, working under the direction of members of the Transaction team

  •   Very strong communication skills: Confidence in written and oral presentations to C-suite level executives

  •   An excitement to learn from and contribute to a dynamic and interactive team

  •   Ability to research appropriate prospective acquirers, based on an understanding of multiple

    industries and key events driving growth

  •   Knowledge of global economic conditions, and a keen interest in M&A activity in the South

    African market

  •   Patience, resilience and tenacity in working in high-pressure situations with the ability to

    handle a rigorous schedule of deadlines

  •   Good listening skills, with quick comprehension of information gleaned through telephone

    conversations

  •   Ability to change an intended approach and be agile in responding during telephonic

    conversations

  •   Accept guidance and advice from team members, with a willingness to conform to required

    processes

  •   Show attention to detail, due care, diligence, excellence, and be empathetic

  •   Commit to travel nationally when required
